Rejection & Grading FAQ

Can you dispute a buyer's grading assessment if you think it's inaccurate?

Short answer: Yes, reasonably — if you believe a buyer has misjudged your material's grade or contamination level, raising this directly and asking them to explain their assessment is a normal and legitimate part of the process, though ultimately you're also free to decline that specific offer and seek an assessment from a different buyer if you're not satisfied with the explanation.

Why asking for an explanation is reasonable

A transparent, professional buyer should be able to explain specifically what’s driving their grading assessment — asking this isn’t confrontational, it’s a normal part of understanding how your material was evaluated.

What a legitimate explanation looks like

Specific, observable reasons (visible contamination, confirmed mixed material, moisture content) rather than a vague or evasive response are what distinguishes a genuine assessment from an unreasonably low offer.

Your options if you’re not satisfied

You’re not obligated to accept any specific offer — comparing your material against a different buyer’s assessment is a reasonable way to get a second opinion if you believe the first one was inaccurate.
